History of Destiny 2 Content Vaulting
Revision 14531 by d2-dev at 2026-10-09 04:43:56
Overview
The Destiny Content Vault (DCV) is Bungie's archive for Destiny destinations and activities that have been removed from active play. Bungie introduced the model in 2020 to manage the game's size and allow its world to evolve. The official support guide says expansions would no longer be vaulted after the 2022 policy change, while seasonal content continued to leave when a new expansion launched. The Year 8 vaulting list records another removal wave on July 15, 2025.
Current status
On June 9, 2026, Update 9.7.0, titled Monument of Triumph, was announced as Destiny 2's final planned live-service content update. Bungie said it could still issue hotfixes for game health and stability. On September 17, 2026, Bungie announced that work had begun to restore vaulted campaigns, destinations, and raids for all Destiny 2 players. Bungie said the content needs updates to lighting, encounters, combatants, and underlying systems, and that the work will take time. As of that announcement, Bungie had not provided a release date or a specific list of returning content.
The restoration announcement changes the prior expectation that vaulted content would remain inaccessible indefinitely; it does not mean the content has already returned. See Destiny 2 for the game's service status.
