History of Dead Messenger

Dead Messenger is a Void Exotic Grenade Launcher from the Vox Obscura Exotic mission, introduced with Destiny 2: The Witch Queen (Season of the Risen) and craftable from Season of the Witch.

Overview

• Archetype: Energy-slot Grenade Launcher, one-round magazine.
• Intrinsic perk: "Trinary Vision". Projectiles release a fan of three energy waves on ground contact. "The Fundamentals" lets you hold reload to cycle between Void, Solar and Arc.
• Lore: Empress Caiatl admires a Guardian's grenade launcher and Commander Zavala offers a Cabal-sized one from Banshee-44.

Acquisition

• Complete Vox Obscura (and its Expert/Master versions) for the weapon.
• Pattern unlock for crafting needs one Deepsight extraction.

Catalyst

Master Vox Obscura completions. Since Season of the Witch there are three options: Thresh (Super energy), Unrelenting (health regeneration) and Demolitionist (grenade energy); the original Turnabout catalyst grants an overshield for breaking an enemy shield or a Guardian Super.
