History of Dead Man's Tale Catalyst

Overview

Dead Man's Tale Catalyst is a Triumph in Destiny 2 from Season 13. It is tied to the Exotic Scout Rifle Dead Man's Tale. The objective is to defeat 800 targets with the weapon. Alternatively, applying the catalyst to the Shaped version of Dead Man's Tale also completes it. No score or reward is listed.

How to complete

1. Obtain Dead Man's Tale from the Presage Exotic quest.
2. Complete Presage on Master difficulty. Speak with Zavala after the activity, and he gives you the catalyst.
3. Defeat 800 targets with Dead Man's Tale in any activity. Kills count toward the total, and the catalyst's upgrade unlocks at 800.

Tips

• Open the hidden caches in Presage. This speeds up the kill count.
• Farm the Shadow Thralls in Shattered Throne with the weapon. That room can be reached solo, or through a checkpoint that loads you into it.
• The catalyst's perk, Dark-Forged Trigger, removes the hip-fire accuracy penalty and raises the hip-fire rate of fire. Stacks of Cranial Spike raise the hip-fire rate further.
