History of Dark Age

Overview

The Dark Age is the era after the Collapse that ended the Golden Age, before the City Age. Humanity was driven close to extinction, and survivors formed short-lived colonies. Lakshmi-2 says "a thousand kings" rose and fell. Destinypedia says it lasted at least four centuries.

Events

Events attributed to this period include the Traveler creating Ghosts to find Guardians, the Awoken emerging, and early Guardians becoming warlords until groups like the Iron Lords opposed them. The Fallen arrived pursuing the Traveler, and the Cabal invaded Mars and fought the Vex.

In Destiny 2

The era is referenced for context across seasons, and gear and places are themed on it, such as the Dark Age set from the Warlord's Ruin dungeon.
