Overview

Cull's Shadow Catalyst is a triumph in Destiny 2 that requires acquiring a catalyst for Cull's Shadow, a secret Exotic weapon from the Moon. Completing it awards no score in the game data.

Cull's Shadow comes from a hidden chain of Exotic missions. Its catalysts are the Soulfire catalysts from the Oblation missions that follow it.

How to complete

  1. Prepare a Weapon of Sorrow. The early steps need a Weapon of Sorrow (Thorn, Osteo Striga, Touch of Malice or Necrochasm) to shoot the symbols.
  2. Unlock Oblation: Bloodline. Shoot the symbols in the Scarlet Keep strike's final arena, then work through the Cabal scout clues at Anchor of Light, Archer's Line, Sorrow's Harbor and Hellmouth, shooting each symbol door top to bottom. This opens the secret entrance to Oblation: Bloodline in Sorrow's Harbor.
  3. Finish Bloodline. Defeat the boss to get Cull's Shadow. Do not leave the boss area straight away; equip Cull's Shadow and clear the first encounter area before you leave.
  4. First catalyst. Sources name it differently. One calls it Soulfire Succor and says to shoot the three Hive runes on the locked door in the boss room with Cull's Shadow. Another calls it Soulfire Secure and says to climb the lantern platforms for a hidden book and then solve the symbol puzzle at the rear of the arena. Either way the step is done in the Bloodline aftermath.
  5. Oblation: Soulfed. Move Soulfire Worms into the crystals, bring Soulfire Charges to the pyres, and defeat the three bosses in the boss room. Finishing it with the hidden book collected gives Soulfire Rancor.
  6. Soulfire Zeal. Before you leave the Soulfed boss room, stand on the lanterns at the back and shoot the six symbols across three statues, in the order shown on the side of Cull's Shadow. This also starts Oblation: Immolation.
  7. Oblation: Immolation. Kill the Soulfed Dirigents to open the path, then defeat the final boss, Ir Gohl, Forger of Sorrow. After he dies, interact with the Dredgen Lightbearer in the forge centre to get the Soulfire Skewer catalyst.

Tips

  • You do not need to finish Soulfed and Immolation in one session. Unlocking them through these steps is enough for the catalysts to be granted.
  • Shoot the Hive runes and symbols with Cull's Shadow equipped; other weapons do not progress these puzzles.

Caveats

The guides consulted are from mid-2026 and tie to the Monument of Triumph content, so later updates may change these missions. Their catalyst names and the boss in Bloodline differ between sources, so check the in-game steps if they do not match.
