History of Competitive Catalyst

Overview

Competitive Catalyst is the Guardian Games quest for the Heir Apparent Exotic catalyst. Per guides, it drops randomly when you deposit Gold or Platinum Medallions at the podium, and only if you own Heir Apparent (itself obtained via Eva Levante). It is an event quest, so it is only available while Guardian Games runs. Figures below come from 2021-era guides; later years may have tuned them.

Walkthrough

1. Earn 50 Medallion points. Higher-tier medallions are worth more (guides: Bronze 1, Silver 2, Gold 5, Platinum 15). Nightfall and Trials of Osiris Contender Cards give Platinum; most others Gold.
2. Complete 3 Contender Cards (bought from Eva Levante with Laurels in the 2021 event).
3. Defeat combatants with Machine Guns to collect 90 Competitive Spirit; precision final blows give bonus progress. Per guides this was done in the daily focus playlist.

Rewards

• Heir Apparent Catalyst, adding Legion's Bulwark: increased Arc shield durability and a partial magazine reload when the shield shatters.
