History of Combatant

Overview

Combatants are an enemy type whose shields are affected by the Match Game challenge modifier. With Match Game active, a Combatant's shield is highly resistant to every damage type except the one matching its shield color, so players have to bring the matching element, such as Arc, Solar or Void, to break it.

Sources differ on which difficulties offer Match Game: one guide lists Master, Grandmaster and Ultimate, while the wiki's Match Game page lists Legend and Master. Availability has changed over time, so check the current activity modifiers before planning a loadout.
