History of Citadel

The Citadel (also written The Citadel) is a massive Vex structure towering over Ishtar Sink, Venus on Venus, made of enormous rectangular stone blocks interwoven with machinery. Not to be confused with The Citadel, the Dreaming City Crucible map.

Overview

Destinypedia describes it as a Vex-controlled location whose top holds the Terminus, a gate network that can carry the Vex through the time streams connected to the Vault of Glass. Lore suggests it was seeded in Venus's crust long before humanity.

History

During the Wolf Rebellion the Kell of Kells tried to use its gates to summon reinforcements across time and was defeated by Guardians; later Taken forces occupied it during the Taken War before being driven out.

In Destiny 2

It was a patrol zone and public event location in the original Destiny; the sources found only mention it in Destiny 2 content, so it is not a playable area there.
