Overview

Bungie, Inc. is a video game developer founded in 1991. The studio created the Destiny and Halo franchises, as well as Marathon and Myth. Bungie's official careers page identifies it as the studio behind these series.

Bungie developed and operates Destiny 2. In 2022, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced its acquisition of Bungie; Bungie's current privacy notice describes the company as a wholly owned SIE subsidiary and part of PlayStation Studios.

Destiny 2

Bungie released Destiny 2 in 2017. After announcing in May 2026 that Update 9.7.0 would be the game's final planned live-service content update, Bungie announced in September 2026 that it had begun work to restore vaulted campaigns, destinations, and raids.
