History of Briar

Overview

Briar is a Titan, a Sunbreaker and a former Lightbearer, who was one of Nezarec's victims during the Dark Age. After killing someone in a forest without knowing why, he was touched by Nezarec's influence. The torment drove him to madness: he burned down his home with his Hammer of Sol and blinded himself in a futile attempt to avoid seeing the God of Pain.

Lore

His Ghost, Firethorn, restored his sight, but at Nezarec's command Briar destroyed it and blinded himself again. When Nezarec's influence weakened, an Acolyte listened to Briar's story and recruited him so he could feel Nezarec's power again. Mykel later led the Acolytes of Nezarec and recruited other former victims, including Acasia and Koraxis.

Agony armor

Briar's story is told through the item descriptions of the Agony armor set from Lightfall, including the Helm, Gauntlets, Plate and Greaves of Agony, and the Mark of Agony, which covers his recruitment.
