History of Ammo Generation

Ammo Generation is a weapon stat that sets how quickly a weapon fills its Special ammo and Heavy ammo meters. Higher values refill the meter faster. Per the developer notes quoted by DevTrackers, all weapons except Swords have the stat.

It can be raised with Ammo Generation chest mods, and with Bandolier or Abundant Ammo mods on the weapon. Finder mods on the head slot scale all meter gains for the matching ammo type, up to 3x. Scavengers on the legs add ammo on pickups for matched weapons.

A separate weapon stat from 100 to 200 gives an escalating chance that ammo bricks contain extra ammo. Bricks drop more often than before but hold less ammo each.
